Lawson, the convenient shop

Japan is famous for its vending machines everywhere; in Tokyo, they even have various items being sold in vending machine. Even Hot Food/Drinks being sold too…

Synonymous with vending machine is 24 Hour Convenient Shops in Japan; everywhere and anytime, also known as ‘Konbini/コンビニ’.  You ought to find your ATM, breakfast/lunch/dinner meal, emergency items, snacks, magazines, umbrellas; anything you may look for; chances are you can find it there.

Nearest from where I live is Lawson; quite a small outlet though but as usual, you can literally find anything you need here.

It even has Self-Service Photocopying/Scanner machine which you just need to insert coins to machine next to it to pay for the services used; no need supervision from staff.

When travelling to Japan on holiday, I had no chance to try Oden from the convenient shops for my meal so recently, I tried it from Lawson and it has become my favourite dinner meal. It’s light, full of umami due to broth being slow-boiled with the cooked items. And as this is Japan, attention being paid to even the smallest details.

From packed condiments for your taking, to how the staff considerately tape the cover ensuring no spillover, though the quality & design of the container itself makes it not easy to pop open or spillover.

Beside Oden as the cooked food, if you purchase any Bento/Packed Meal, chances are the staff will ask you whether you would like it to be reheated as you wish to eat it soon.
